You, with a Little Help from Your Friends

Wouldn’t it be great if this were the last year you made resolutions to lose weight, manage your stress, eat healthier, exercise more often, and feel really great? Every year, half of all Americans make these types of resolutions – and most have made the same ones for five years in a row! Unfortunately, more than 95 percent of us have given up on our resolutions by the end of January.

What can make a difference for you this year? The number one tip from health experts is: Get Support. Whether you join a group (in person or online), work with a health coach one-on-one, tell your family and friends about your goals, or exercise with a “workout buddy,” studies show that having support increases your chances for success by more than 50 percent! For example, with a health coach, you receive knowledgeable, nurturing and supportive guidance. You are accountable to someone with whom you can speak freely, in confidence, without holding back and without fear of judgment, criticism or consequences. It can truly be life-transforming.

As we wrap up 2014, the best way to set yourself up for success with your 2015 goals is to find people to support and encourage you. But first, champagne. Have a safe and happy New Year's Eve!
