Don’t Forget These Small but Important Aspects of Good Health

Staying healthy is a complex and multifaceted thing. Indeed, there are many aspects to health, and while we often cover the main ones like eating well, we mustn't forget others like the ones you will find below. Read on to find out what they are. 

Get a good night's sleep 

It's easy to forget that we need a good night's sleep every night to function well, especially when life is busy, and there never seems like enough time in the day to get everything done. Indeed, the advent of smartphones has only made this problem worse, and it can be very tempting to spend the evenings absorbing blue light while getting a quick dopamine fix scrolling social media. 

However, scrolling electronic devices is particularly bad for your sleep, as it messes up your circadian rhythms, making sleep poorer quality, and making it harder to get to sleep at a regular time each night. 

The remedy to this problem is to practice good sleep hygiene, which means setting regular bedtimes for yourself, as well as skipping reading your phone, and opting for a paperback, some meditation, or listening to some relaxing music instead. 

Attending to your hearing health 

Hearing health is just as vital as any other aspect of staying in good condition, but can be easily overlooked as problems like tinnitus, or an uncontrolled ringing in the ears can appear gradually, over time. 

However, hearing issues such as tinnitus can have a big effect on the person that experienced them, as it can feel very frustrating hearing a sound that you cannot stop or turn down. The good news is tinnitus treatment is now available that can help reduce the impact of this condition. Thereby allowing those suffering from it to get some relief. 

Joyful movement 

We all know that exercise and moving our bodies is good for our health. Unfortaly, what we can often forget is that we stand the best chance of keeping up with our daily movement practice if we pick something that we truly enjoy doing.

Think of it this way, which habit would be easier to keep up, running five miles a day when you have to force yourself to get out of the house, or doing a dance class each day which means you can bop along with your favorite tunes? 

Foot health 

Last, of all, our feet do so much for us, they support us, and allow us to move through life. Yet so often we can forget to care for them properly. The essentials of foot health include cutting your toenails in the right manner to avoid ingrown and exfoliating your feet to ensure hard skin does not build up and crack. 

Additionally, healthy feet need comfortable supportive shoes, preferably matched to the type of gate you have, especially if you are doing lots of sports like running. Unfortunately, if you do not care for your feet in the correct way you can end up with one or more of several conditions such as hammer toes that can cause pain and limit your mobility over the long term. To that end, be sure to attend to your feet just as you do the rest of your body, and get regular checkups at your local podiatrist.
