Why Beauty Is More Than Skin Deep: How to Care for Yourself from the Inside

Beauty is more than skin deep - that’s just a simple fact. And when you’re trying to improve your skincare routine and make changes that’ll show on your face and body, that’s something you need to remember. Indeed, a lot of what you eat is going to have an effect on the quality of your skin, but it’s not the only internal factor that’ll change how smooth, hydrated, and glowing your look is. Here are some of the various other methods you can use to take care of the largest organ in your body from the inside.

Understand Your Skin Type

We all have a slightly different skin type, and no two people are going to experience a skincare routine exactly the same. However, if you can fit your skin type into one of the more general categories, all different types of skin have a better chance of thriving. The more you know, the better you can take care!

Whether your skin is oily or dry or normal, once you know its type, you can better counteract the negative effects of living with it. From lowering your skin’s oil amount to finding foods that help prevent blemishes, this is where you really find out what’s going on beneath the surface level. Seeing as you can’t take a peek in there, this is invaluable information to have on hand.

Be Aware of Food Intolerances

If you’re allergic to something you want to eat, don’t eat it, no matter how minimal the risks! Maybe you get a bit of an itchy mouth, maybe you only feel the effects the day after - either way, you could be accidentally damaging your skin and not realizing it. Stay aware of this and try to avoid eating things that could make you sick.

Hives, rashes, and blemishes are the most common types of allergic reactions, and even when they’re so small you don’t really notice them, they could end up being very major one day! Your body might find it can’t quite deal with these foods anymore, even after giving you plenty of warning, and your next reaction could be quite dramatic indeed.

Drink Some Tea

Tea is very good for the skin. Of course, you’ll have to drink the right blends, but you can slowly sip on a cozy cuppa and feel all the goodness soak into your body. Buy yourself some bags, pop a small bit of sweetener into the mug, and then take your time relaxing with it.

Green tea is the most skin boosting of its kind. Its main purpose is to reduce inflammation, which is great for removing red and bumpy areas across your skin, a.k.a., anywhere acne can be found! It’s also been found to have a bit of UV protection, which makes it great for those long summer days when you want to show off your legs, arms, and shoulders.

Battle Your Stressors

Stress can really show on your skin. The more stressed you are, and the longer you feel stressed for, the more likely you are to notice your skin aging ahead of you. Indeed, the hormones that cause the stress reaction can break down the healthy collagen base that plumps up your skin and keeps it supple, which can then lead to premature wrinkles and other things like crows feet.

So get a move on beating that stress! A prolonged period of it is not good for any part of your body, but you’re going to see it affecting your skin more than anything else. And that’s only going to tear your mood down even more.

Exercise Regularly

Exercise releases endorphins - you probably know that by now - but endorphins are also great for making your skin look young and soft. This is due to their healing effect; the more you move and get your heart rate raised, the more likely you are to heal a cut, bruise, scrape, and popped zit in just a couple of days.

Not to mention just how good exercising can make you feel once all the sweat has been showered off! You’ll start noticing these skin effects after a couple weeks of repeated exercise, but the healthy inner feeling begins immediately!

Beauty is way more than skin deep. If you want to support your skincare routine from the inside out, use tips and tricks like these to really boost your collagen and endorphin production. The better you feel, the better you’re going to look, simple as!
