Brush and Rinse

When it comes to your morning routine, it is best to make sure that you are brushing your teeth before having your breakfast. The fluoride in your toothpaste will protect your teeth. If you brush afterward, there is the possibility that you are going to be rubbing the sugars and acids from your breakfast into your teeth’s enamel when you brush, which will cause damage.

Do Not Skip the Bedtime Brush

You know to brush at least twice a day; however, a lot of people still neglect that second brush at night. During the day, germs and plaque build up in your mouth. By brushing at night, you are cleaning these away and ensuring that they do not cause any damage or decay. 

Think about What You Eat

Try to limit the number of sugary foods and drinks that you consume. Sugar converts into acid in the mouth, which is the main cause of enamel erosion and damage to your teeth, causing cavities. So, where possible, try and cut out those high sugar foods where possible and eat other foods that can help toward having healthy teeth, like whole fruit. 

Switch to Electric

An electric toothbrush will keep your mouth cleaner. They are more effective when it comes to removing plaque and keeping dental decay at bay. By having a smaller and moving head, they are able to get the bristles in between teeth better and remove more plaque, which with manual brushes, can be more challenging to achieve due to the large toothbrush head.

Not only is plaque building up on your teeth, but it also builds on your tongue. This plaque build up is the cause of bad breath and can also add to a variety of different other oral and dental health problems. A good habit to get into is also giving your tongue a cleaning each time you brush.

Brush Properly

In addition to brushing twice, it is also vital that you are brushing properly. If you aren’t brushing properly, it doesn’t matter how often you brush at all, as it isn’t doing the needed job. The best practice is to take your time it is recommended that you brush for a total of two minutes, apply gentle pressure, move the brush around the teeth in a circular motion.
