Put down your phone
The internet brings people together, but it also brings bad news and toxic people to our attention with the touch of a button. Social media can have a negative impact on self esteem, while the news cycle can make us feel anxious and worried about the future of the world. The majority of people in the Western world are addicted to their phones and this leads to a constant cycle of stress. The best thing you can do is to actively make an effort to reduce the amount of time you spend online. Set time limits on your apps and find other, more wholesome hobbies to divert your attention.
Limit your caffeine intake
Drinking too much tea, coffee and other caffeinated drinks is another key offender. Although they can wake you up in the morning and help you power through work, they can severely heighten your pre-existing anxiety. Not to mention that they stain your teeth. So unless you're prepared to have a regular teeth whitening, then it might be a better idea to switch to decaf or herbal teas.
Exercise more
Physical activity is one of the best cures for anxiety there is. A short burst of exercise can get your endorphins flowing and makes you feel happier and more confident. Find a sport you enjoy and try to engage in at least 30 minutes of exercise three times a week.
Spend time outside
Nature has proven benefits for mental health, and sometimes all it takes is a walk outside to banish any underlying stress. Humans evolved to be outside. It's our natural environment so it's understandable that we feel better when we have the sun over our heads and greenery all around us. Use your lunch breaks to go for a quick stroll or take the scenic route to work.
